Monday Photo Blog: Siege!!

14 11 2011

Had to start my first  Monday Photo Blog with a classic band. I can still remember the first time hearing Siege on the Cleanse The Bacteria comp. Could not believe a band so brutal could come from America. They stood out from all the other bands on that record, and the line-up was some top notch stuff.  So, when the offer came to run some photos of the band I jumped at it. A huge thanks to Kurt Habelt for providing the images.

Monday Photo Blog: Ben Trogdon

31 10 2011

Well, we are sad to announce that Mark “icki” Murrmann is stepping down from his duties as MRR’s Monday Photo Blog editor. We can only hope to live up to the quality standard that icki has set in his two and a half years on the job. You can still keep up with Mark at his website, and I’m sure he’ll still be contributing to MRR now and again. So, thank you icki for all of the amazing photos!

While we’re looking for a new photo editor, your fearless Webmaster has been scouring recent contributions. Amongst shot after shot of shirtless singer dudes we were pleased to find an amazing selection of band portraits, live pics and scene photos from Olympia’s Ben Trogdon, editor of NUTS! zine and drummer of the great Weird TV. Check out his photo site here, and some of his awesome shots right here!

Monday Photo Blog: Budget Rock RIP edition

24 10 2011

This past weekend marked the end of the Bay Area’s Budget Rock Fest. Ten years into it and Chris Owen, Mitch Cardwell and the whole gang wisely decided to pack it in. Don’t get me wrong — I’ve had plenty of fun at Budget Rock, but it’s good to see someone call it a day while they’re going on strong rather than dragging it out, you know? So, with that in mind, I thought I’d post a few shots from this year’s blow-out and a few hits/misses from the past few years too.

We’ve got a nice backlog of submissions — we’ll be getting them up soon! But keep ‘em coming! The more, the better.

Send your tour photos, bands that have come through your town, the best of your local bands, or something like this to: photoblog {at} maximumrocknroll(.)com. Include your name, the band, where and when it was shot, and a link to your website (or flickr, Facebook, or whatever). Just send your best photos — edit tightly. Three to five photos is plenty, and it’s best to send pictures of different bands. Please do not send watermarked photos. We like to exercise a little quality control here…not everything sent in will be posted. Please make your photos 72 dpi and about 600–800 pixels at the longest side. Thanks!

Monday Photo Blog: Return to Indonesia

26 09 2011

Of any country besides the US, Indonesia is probably the best represented here on MRR’s Monday Photo Blog. We get a steady stream of submissions from Indonesia photographers. Today’s came back in June from A. Okhi Irawan, a longtime MRR reader. Most of these photos are from the early ’00s “where the Indonesia’s despotic goverment change into reform age, and re-shape how punks movement during that age.”

Thanks for the photos  A. Okhi!
