MRR #382 • March 2015

  • Price $4.99

Maximum Rocknroll #382, the March 2015 issue, features our annual Year-End Top Tens! MRR reviewers, columnists, and coordinators get to have their say about their favorite records, tapes, and zines of 2014. As always, we asked some of our friends to contribute lists too—see what Ralph from Not Normal Records and Tapes, Paco from La Vida Es Un Mus, Laura from RAKTA, Ben from Nuts!, and many more have to say about the records they consumed and were consumed by last year. Martin Sorrondeguy sat down with legendary SST producer Spot to talk about his recent photo book, new MRR Coordinator Grace interviewed NYHC rippers IN SCHOOL, and former MRR Coordinator Golnar Nikpour had a conversation with Leatherfist, Shit Zoo, Tilted HC, and Chelsea of PIG DNA. The little piggies also designed our cheeky cover (how many times can you spot the word “fucker”?). Plus, we’ve got a scene report from Grenoble, France: punk mecca tucked into the Alps! We have all the columnists you love to hate, including a new monthly column from Colin Atrophy of Slice Harvester zine and a contribution from hacker/whistleblower Jeremy Hammond writing from federal prison; and as always the most extensive punk record review section in print.

Submit

MRR is contributor-driven, which means that we rely on punks like you for content. You don’t need an invitation to be a part of what we do.

MUSIC

For review and radio play consideration, send two copies of vinyl or one copy of CD-only or cassette-only releases to PO Box 3852, Oakland, CA 94609, USA. Send us the final version of your record—we do not review digital releases, test presses, or promo CDs.

We will review everything that falls within our areas of coverage: independent punk, garage, and hardcore. This means no major labels or labels that are exclusively distributed by major-owned distributors. We reserve the right to reject releases on the basis of content. Music without vocals or drums will not be considered.

Every record that is reviewed is added to our archive, the largest collection of punk records in the world. Please allow two months from your mailing date before following up to ask if we’ve received your submission.

WRITING

We are always looking for interview, scene report, guest column, and photo submissions. Submission does not guarantee publication. In order to improve the chances of your submission being printed, please read our FAQ.

ZINES, BOOKS, MOVIES

In addition to records, we also review independently published and produced zines, books, and movies. Please send physical copies to PO Box 3852, Oakland, CA 94609, USA. If you have a streaming link to your film, or if it is playing in the San Francisco Bay Area, please email the information to carolyn@maximumrocknroll.com.
