Band name:
FLESH PRISON
Date & location formed:
New York, sometime in early 2014/mid 2015.
Reason for forming:
Started as a one-man bedroom project, then all of our other bands weren’t doing much so we decided to flesh the band out a little bit.
What are your lyrics about?
Self abuse, isolation, disembodiment, violence, etc.
How would you describe your sound?
Trash can black metal with mosh parts.
What’s in the future for this band?
We’re doing a weekend up to Boston in June, then preparing to put together our next release shortly after.
Date & location formed:
We formed around July 2015 in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. We knew each other from and have all lived in Denton at one point so we just say we are from there. We live in Denton, Dallas, and Fort Worth currently.
Reason for forming:
We were all looking for new people to jam with and we were stoked to find four girls ready to commit to a serious working band. We needed an outlet from our own shit to have fun and make something.
What are your lyrics about?
Meg: My lyrics are either about camming or they’re nonsense because I’m either horny or high when I’m writing.
How would you describe your sound?
When ELIX-R first formed, we were all picking up our instruments with the intention of playing live shows for the first time so we didn’t really have the expectations of sounding like our favorite bands. Our sound still is hard for us to articulate for us. We didn’t really have the ability to rip off other bands since we were all figuring out our instruments and molding them to ourselves so we decided that our sound would be based off what we thought sounded cool, what we were actually able to play live and memorize as beginners and having a distinct original sound. We didn’t have a name until we had jammed for about 3 months. We couldn’t hear the vocals during practice so our first time really hearing Meg’s vocals was after we recorded our demo. It was great because we trusted each other enough to know that whatever we wrote, it was fun and it was going to sound sick regardless. We all listened to similar enough things and went to the same punk shows in DFW but out influences are still pretty different. Our sound is a true mix of the four of us.
What’s in the future for this band?
We are planning to release an EP this year and tour soon.
Date & location formed:
Summer ’15 in Portland, OR.
Reason for forming:
The four of us have been playing together in another band for over 10 years. We all agreed it was time to do something completely new but didn’t want to stop working together.
What are your lyrics about?
Crippling depression, overwhelming anxiety, drugs, and the unending search for the will to live.
How would you describe your sound?
Catchy, driving, and monotonous.
What’s in the future for this band?
We just recorded 12 songs for an LP and have a west coast tour in June.
