Band name:
REVERIE
Date & location formed:
September 2012 in Buffalo, NY.
Reason for forming:
Sean (vocals) started writing songs with Joey (guitars) and had trouble getting together with our original drummer due to his very busy schedule. Matt (bass) and Rich H. (former drummer) were a part of another band Sean was in. The two bands combined after Joey heard a song we wrote and just decided to combine the two bands into Reverie.
What are your lyrics about?
I (Sean) write mostly about situations that I’ve been in, what they’ve meant to me. I also tend to write about the lack of god, monsters, and the plethora of shit I hate.
How would you describe your sound?
Fast, aggressive, melodic punk. Rites of Spring meets Cursed.
What’s in the future for this band?
We have a record coming out soon that we are self releasing and our recording a EP this winter.
Date & location formed:
We started writing and recording instrumental shitty songs in Summer 2012, but we became a “real band” late last year. We’re from Mexico City and its metropolitan area.
Reason for forming:
Boredom maybe. Two of us play in Avichines, but we wanted to make a new band that sound like Gudon, Nightmare, Chicken Bowels, Matsuji, and those mid/late ’80s Japanese thrash-hardcore bands. There were no Hispanic bands playing that kind of hardcore, so we started the band. Somehow we ended up sounding completely different, now we play noise punk.
What are your lyrics about?
Most of our lyrics are about drinking, girls, feeling stuck and depressed, hating everything and everybody, being uncomfortable everywhere, hating the idea of growing up and having to work and live in a stupid third-world country, and stuff like that. Some other songs are a little bit more optimistic, and talk about how much we love punk, and that feeling that nothing else in the world matters if you’re listening to a great punk rock record, or partying with your good friends.
How would you describe your sound?
Think of your favorite Japanese noisecore bands… Confuse, Gai, The Swankys, So What, State Children, Z, Tranquilizer, Gloom, Dust Noise, etc. We don’t sound like them.
What’s in the future for this band?
Release some 7″ records, maybe an LP or two. Tour the US, Europe, Japan, Canada, and if it’s possible Central and South America, Australia and Southeast Asia; contract AIDS and an alcoholic liver disease on those tours, and then die.
Date & location formed:
This project started in the winter in 2014 in Skopje, Macedonia.
Reason for forming:
I was in a hardcore band but we didn’t tour. Also in that time I got heavy into folk punk so the plan was simple: to write songs as much as possible and to go on tour.
What are your lyrics about?
Well, the lyrics are describing the life in Macedonia. After the fall of Yugoslavia, Macedonia was (maybe still is) in the transition process and was looking to change the system. But during that period a lot of people lost their jobs and the political parties had (still have) the big part if you want to have a job. So basically my lyrics are about social changes and some of my life experience.
How would you describe your sound?
Angry acoustic folk punk….Think a mix of Neil Young and Ian MacKaye.
What’s in the future for this band?
I’m planing to release some splits soon and after that to release a full-length album and to tour…
