Band name:
SLUGGA

Date & location formed:
2014 in Atlanta.

Reason for forming:
In the past two years I had moved from Orlando to Austin to Gainesville to Atlanta. I kind of got married in Orlando aand definitely got not married in Austin. So I split and kept moving. I wrote a bunch of these songs in Austin and when I got to Atlanta I met Skip, our guitar player. He was a true freak and we hit it off. Wymyns Prysyn introduced me to Hatcher, our drummer. We talked about how cool Hickey was and decided to start playing. Skip said he’d play with us and we somehow convinced Louise to join in on bass.

What are your lyrics about?
Everything that doesn’t matter but still I manage to think about.

How would you describe your sound?
Josh from State Laughter/Uniform/Wymyns Prysyn: “You sound like the singer from Blanks 77”

What’s in the future for this band?
7″ on Negative Jazz. “Parasite” single on Total Punk. East Coast tour once all the snow stops. We also wanna come out west but want someone to drive us. Any takers?

barbed-wire-500x12 heavy makeup

Band name:
HEAVY MAKEUP

Date & location formed:
We formed in Gothenburg, Sweden, late in the summer of 2013.

Reason for forming:
Our guitarist Isse saw Pissed Jeans live that summer and the experience was so overwhelming that he had to create something to channel the inspiration it had given him.

What are your lyrics about?
Vanity and the ugliness hidden away within people is the biggest source of inspiration for the lyrics.

How would you describe your sound?
Minimal and dirty mid-tempo hardcore, stupid riffs and simple beats, no fills!

What’s in the future for this band?
We will record material for a 7″ this spring, hopefully someone will want to release it. If not we will release it ourselves.

barbed-wire-500x12

Band name:
SOFTLINES

softlines

Date & location formed:
Spring/summer 2014 in Buffalo, NY.

Reason for forming:
I played drums in a band called Mapmaker. Andy moved away to Ithaca in 2013. I had songs I wrote and wanted to keep playing with everyone else from that band, but play guitar instead. Andy moved to New Orleans a year later and other bands I was in stopped, making this project more of a priority. Guitar didn’t work out for me though, so I still play drums.

What are your lyrics about?
Introspective life garbage everyone probably deals with. Self doubt, anxiety etc. nothing new.

How would you describe your sound?
Jangly pop played with some urgency.

What’s in the future for this band?
Recording, weekends when possible. Maybe a longer tour if the stars align.
