Fudgetunnel! Little Red Fire Engine / Beating (Is a Luxury) 7″
Sounds like early TELEVISION meets JONATHAN RICHMAN. Understated garage music with smart but twisted lyrics—like “Little Johnny Jewel”.

Some pretty basic rhythmic punk rock here. The recording is well-done, and probably shows them at their best, but there’s no real imagination at work yet. This is a young band and there’s evidence of future specialness.
Pretty inspired and raging hardcore here. Lots of different tempos, all delivered with an edge that makes you take notice, tunes that are distinct, and lyrics that usually hit home. Very good effort.
A really hot debut. Great pop hardcore, lots of punch, above average lyrics, memorable tunes. Kicks ass, so get this now.
This band used to be the X-MEN… the Chicago ones. I’m glad they changed their name, too. They are an eclectic group showing diversity in their mix of aggressive and twisted pop songs that range from frenetic pop punk to bare and goofy melodies. A weird band.
An energetic trio that has a pretty sparse (guitar is largely rhythmic) and clean sound. Goofy lyrics and boppin’ tunes are the thing here, and should appeal to a broad range of listeners.
