Bizarre mayhem from France with a wild combination of guitar and total distortion bass plucks, as a drum paces forth with shrilling vocals. A unique blend of hardcore staying away from the traditional approach, capturing a very disordered rumbling of bass frequency as the highlight. Very creative, interesting tunes.
Really fine, driving punk rock with that French inflection. Not thrash, but quite uptempo basic melodic punk with lots of zip and power. Cool choruses, too.
High quality hardcore here. Very tight, with hot production, lots of variation and powerful as hell. Good lyrics to boot. Get this.
Straightforward Japanese punk that holds a raw, powerful sound and good, pulsating beats in a moving fashion. Tick-tocking action as snare and bass hit the savage pace, with stops and metallic kerrangs. Fun, enjoyable music that comes with English translated lyrics, and the first couple hundred have a free flexi. Choice!
This European label has got a handle on getting Japanese HC to the world (a 7″ sampler, this disc, and a comp LP to come), a welcome project. On this release, FUCK GEEZ crank out five great pop punk tunes, all with great verve and sound. Catchy tunes (some off their Japanese 7″s) and hot packaging (as are all the records in this series so far).
HEIMATLOS delivers in many punk styles, all of which are done with a special “cut above” feel — whether thrash, classic, short or long, they attack. KROMOZOM 4 are also a tight, aggressive unit whose combination of wicked thrash and goofy stuff between tracks gives them a TOY DOLLS feel. Hot record!
The A-side from this veteran DC band at its best has strong MC5 influences: with the structure, leads, vocals, and riffs, it has a bit of a 70s rock feel, but it’s catchy and powerful. The flip is a folk/acoustic song that lacks power but has good lyric impact.
The French are smashing the boundaries of speedcore with eight out-of-control fiery bands. Just when you thought the explosion was over, the thrash terrorizes again with VANDALES, the tongue-twisting zoom battle of RAPT, FINAL BLAST, four exceptional tracks from BUTCHER, HEIMAT-LOS, BLOODY FUCKERS, and GONO COKE. There are enough tracks on this tape to drive you totally mad as this is a sheer intensified dose of quality chaos!!
Lots of great material from the current crop of French HC bands, and there’s enthusiasm as well as tight, hot music. Bands include ZOI, HEIMAT-LOS, FINAL BLAST, M.S.T., SCRAPS, RAPT, and more. These bands are not as distinctively “French” as previous waves of French punk, seemingly more influenced by US hardcore, which in a way is a shame.
An all-Japanese release for those who can’t locate the stuff. Contains a track or two from DEADLESS MUSS, SO WHAT, DETROIT, and FUCK GEEZ. Decent thrash material, nothing lame but little awesome from the current crop.
